Spending My Mega Millions

Wednesday I spent the day thinking about how to spend the $325 million I'm about to win through the Mega Millions Jackpot.
Click here to see how I'll spend the first $30 million or so...
It's really a lump sum of $170 million OR
$750,000 a year for 26 years
So here's how it goes for me- since we all think about this every so often.
I take the lump sum- invest most & live off the interest.
Right away I...
buy a $5-10 million beachfront home in Laguna
buy a $3 million home in Houston
$3 million home in Scottsdale
$3 million 'family compound' (always liked the sound of that) - $1 million to travel in luxury to a handful of vacation destinations to pick the one to invest in.
Interior designers furnish each home $2 million per property
$15 million for my family ($5 for sister - $10 for parents)
$15 million for Andrew's family
I would completely fund a no-kill shelter - pay for construction, and start-up costs.
that leaves $100 plus million to earn interest

Missing My Video
It's been a week of work with a bit of help!
Most of the time I do it all- shoot my video, edit it, write it- go live.
This week I was lucky to have a photographer to shoot & edit for me.
A welcome treat! However, that's also why I don't have any new stories posted in my video viewer this week.
Click on 'BLOG' and I've got you linked up to my stories from this week- from my work website.
... in the meantime. I'm on a boat.

Bosom Ball dead ahead
Wednesday on 39 News I spoke with a patient of Dr. Conrad Murray- the doc who's still being investigated after Michael Jackson's death in June.
That link will take you to my story - hear about the web backlash after the Dr. released a video on Youtube.

Here's what's coming up
this week that is GREAT!
* This Saturday is Adult Wild Winks @ the Houston Zoo
this is so cool! An adults-only sleepover - I haven't got all the dets yet, but I'm picturing a bit of casual, cool partying, drinks- and great friends- and maybe a couple animals? one could only hope!

*Also Saturday- The Bosom Ball hosted by MIX 96.5 - I'll be there!

The Jonas Brothers are zippin' through Houston Friday.
And this is kinda neat- I'll be riding in the tour bus with their opening act 'Honor Society' Friday afternoon.
I'll go to their appearances with them - it should be a blast!
Then 39 fans get to meet and greet with the guys late, late tomorrow night- I'll be there!
We'll dig up some dirt on those guys- and the band they open for-the Jonas Brothers.

Living Each Day- and chowing down

We are moving forward today- each new day is a gift (mark that under lessons learned)!
And even with the sudden loss of our Shelton we are looking ahead and celebrating the time we had with him!
Today it's back to the grind - and I'm looking foward to it.
You should, too- there's a lot of great happenings in Houston this week.
It is Houston Restaurant 'week'- and by week I mean a good part of the month- which is GREAT news for foodies like myself.
Click here to check the menu- scope out a new favorite place to dine- if you aren't familiar with it, here's how it works:
DOZENS of fab. Houston eateries take reservations from you- $35 per person for 3 courses- scratch that...3 AMAZING courses- lobster, duck, you name it...
You pick your favorite place (or in my case- a place I normally couldn't afford) and give it a whirl.
Happy Eating- and let me know if you find a place that I've just gotta try!

Fighting the Good Fight
It has been a rough 72 hours for our happy, sweet tempered love of a dog, Shelton.
Over the last few days my husband and I have wished and prayed for things to get better for our little guy.
He is in critical condition at a Houston pet hospital- after waking up Thursday seeming very distant- by Saturday morning he was unresponsive, immobile, and empty behind the eyes. He no longer recognizes us or his surroundings.
Doctors tell us it is neurological- maybe brain swelling- though they don't know what could have caused it- and they're working to find a treatment.
Shelton is just 4 years old.
We are remaining hopeful that this chapter will end soon and we'll have our 'shark man' back with us as healthy and happy as ever.
Things aren't the same here without him, and we're waiting anxiously for every update.

For the Love of Sneakers!

Who knew people loved their sneaks so much!?
music pumpin, hip lookin' teens everywhere- and it wasn't a rap concert- it was a sneaker 'summit' in Houston. Basically a trade show.
Think The Bridal Extravaganza- for kicks-savy teens.
Their fancy shoes aren't just for covering their toes, they are pieces of art.
Some costing as much as $1500.
What would I buy with $1500 in spending money??
A blackberry (or IPhone), 3 hanging planters for my house, a bbq, an oil change..
I don't think that would even total $1500
I have to say- it was actually a pretty neat event.
Kind of like an art opening minus the fancy finger food and add a few gold chains...
Just keep kickin' it :)

Comedian Hal Sparks dishes

Interviewed Comedian/Actor Hal Sparks backstage @ the Improv Friday.
Really nice guy, down to earth & pretty 'tell it like it is'.
You've seen him doing commentary on VH1 for 'I love the 80's- 70's'- etc
He talked about the buzz factor when people see a celebrity, then start to realize its a celebrity, then everyone is looking- even if they don't know who it is- pretty funny stuff!
Told me that Jack Nicholson says - he can walk anywhere he wants in America- past you as a gas station, to the supermarket- the problem is when he stops walking, that's when people start to stare.
He ripped on celebs who say they're plagued by the attention- and talked about what a unique gift it is that he's been given celeb status.
Comedians he doesn't dig :: Jeff Foxworthy & the other blue collar guys
And another interesting note from our chat :::: he said that any celeb you meet that's a total jerk is now, and forever will be on the 'B' list- and they know it- and that's why they're grumpy.
His show Friday @ the Improv was on Michael Jackson- "too soon??" he asked
*maybe - but it was funny!
