Off and Running

I should be off and running. But I'm not. I'm a week and a half away from my first marathon.
And we're in the middle of an 'arctic blast' or so we're calling it on TV.

So I'm giving myself a free pass. OR more likely, I'll get a bit panicky that I haven't been out and go and act like I'm joining a 24 hour fitness so I can run in a climate controlled mega gym.

I'm under prepared for my 26.2 mile trek across the desert- I'm running in Phoenix. Fabulous Phoenix.
I'm also registered for the Houston race the same day, but in Phoenix I have a running buddy aka 'mom' to keep me honest. So, off I go.

My husband and I own a home about a stones throw from where the race finishes, and I'm thinking now how funny it is that it took me moving across the country to have any interest in getting in the game.

I wasn't a runner until Virginia. That's where I ran my first 1/2 and bought my first 'Virginia is for runners' t-shirt. My fav.

I guess none of that has anything to do with 'Hailey the tv so and so', and that's so great!!
I love my work, I love what I do for me outside of work, too!

Back & Refreshed

Back blogging from Houston this a.m. after a quick trip to visit the fam in Scottsdale, AZ.
yes, it really does look like the movies :)
gorg, huh? and that's my parents dinosaur, Colby.

Realized 2 things on this trip:
1- I feel much more at home in Houston than I did in Virginia (even though all my great friends are still there - and even though my time there taught me to 'eat fresh eat local'- and even though i wouldn't take it back in a heartbeat). This just feels a bit more comfortable!

and 2- I must have lost my brain planning to run 26 miles in January with my mom.

After originally planning to run the Chervron Houston solo in Houston - I've scratched that- and now will be running with my athletic mother - so we can clock in our first ever marathons together, or rather- she will be sprinting ahead of me toward the finish line so that she clocks in 1/4 of a second faster, thereby earning bragging rights that at 45, she beat her 24 year-old daughter in a race.

Will we blog during it? maybe- tentatively planning to video blog- that way it's easier to really convey how nuts we're realizing we are along the route.

My mom is already bloggin' away about her training.
Check it out!

Also- back to work today! planning, and practicing, and planning some more for our big 5p show premiere on Monday on CW39 News. Don't miss it!
